The Dark Night, Then the Payoff

2027 builds on the momentum of 2026, when most of the planets moved into fire and air signs. The earth and water signs have a taller task. You have to rely more on surrender and intuition. Your year is complex, and I think intentionally so, because Saturn in your 8th house is so dense. But by the second half of the year, I think you’ll know it was all worth it.

There’s a dark-night-of-the-soul energy here: facing your fears, compulsions and old habits, or restructuring how you share money with someone. Peel back the layers and you come to know yourself deeply, with sharp instincts about other people. This can also be the year you finally build a business or establish financial independence. Even if you stay connected to someone, you know the ways in which you’re still independent.

Your year, season by season

January to March: master your energy

Mars is retrograde in your sign from January 10, then moves into your 12th. This is the year’s biggest test of when to assert yourself and when to hold back. The February 20 lunar eclipse in Virgo lands right on Mars retrograde, and it may be the most impactful eclipse of any sign’s this year. It’s a turning point, and a chance to release old anger and resentment.

January to June: peel back the layers

You may crave alone time, and mindfulness is the key. Keep a dream journal, and set boundaries with other people’s emotions. Release toxic habits. The alone time you take now pays off.

Late March to June: momentum

From March 22 to June 10 you have your strongest stretch to start things, including a business around the Aries New Moon on April 6. The two Scorpio Full Moons, on April 20 and May 20, land in your 3rd house, a healthy release: saying how you truly feel, or finishing coursework or writing.

Late August: the payoff

Jupiter enters your sign on July 25 and meets Venus there in late August, and the Virgo New Moon arrives on August 31. Everything you worked through starts radiating outward, attracting partners, opportunities and attention. You won’t have energy leakages. You’ll have stronger boundaries, and that brings in a wealth of opportunities.

October to December: trailblazer

With Uranus in your 10th, this is a highly innovative year in your career. You could be seen as a trailblazer, a maverick, even an entrepreneur. You may also establish real independence from family, and make a home that reflects who you’ve become.
